Lehman cancels demand for early redemption
Article Abstract:
Lehman Brothers, a securities dealership company, has agreed to retract acceleration notices sent to the Russian government in connection with the Ministry of Finance bonds under the firm's control. The move comes after the company and the government of Russia came into an amicable settlement of disputes arising from the non-payment of Treasury bills, valued at $10 billion owed by the government in favor of foreign banking institutions. Lehman exercise its right to the acceleration clauses contained in the Ministry of Finance bonds, which are activated in case the government defaults in its payment of domestic obligations.
