Letov will survive in the hands of Latecoere
Article Abstract:
Letov Letecka vyroba (LLV) (Prague, Czech Republic), aircraft component manufacturer, will survive due to Latecoere (France). Latecoere, which acquired LLV in Jun 2000, should modernize LLV and should ensure new contracts for the firm. Latecoere promised to invest CEK 440 mil in LLV by 2005. The investments will be used mainly for machine tools, control equipment, assembly lines and the improvement of working conditions. LLV's productivity of labour should become comparable to productivity of labour in the European Union by 2003-2004. LLV saw proceeds of CEK 113 mil for 1-9/2000. Its proceeds totalled CEK 122 mil for all 1999. LLV saw a slight profit of CEK 135,000 in 1999 compared to loss of CEK 6.7 mil in 1998. The firm manufactures emergency doors for Airbus, among others. About 190 aeroplanes Airbus A321 have been equipped with the doors so far.

A French company goes to Letov

Letov letecka vyroba (LLV) (Prague, Czech Republic), aircraft component and set manufacturer, expects financial stability due to its connection with Latecoere (France) in 2000. The connection with Latecoere can ensure an increase in co-operation with Airbus Industrie (AI) (France) for LLV. Latecoere and LLV supply components for aeroplane production to AI currently. Besides, LLV supplies components for the most modern Czech fighter aeroplanes L-159 Alca. LLV, which has 218 employees in 2000, saw a turnover of 100 mil Kc in 1998. The firm was set up from the aircraft production division of Letov (Czech Republic) in 1997.

Svit Zlin goes on co-operating with Timberland
Article Abstract:
Svit (Zlin, Czech Republic), shoe company, will go on co-operating with Timberland (US) in 2001. Both the partners are negotiating the level of future supplies to Timberland at the end of 2000. Svit will supply about 1 mil pairs of shoes in 2000. The co-operation with Timberland, which is Svit's biggest trade partner, is going on in spite of the declaration of bankruptcy proceedings in Sep 2000.
