The management of Lloyds Development Capital (LDC) are not planning to move into Europe, unlike most of their competitors, but they intend to focus on UK companies with turnovers of between 1-100 million pounds sterling. LDC has successfully managed the investments of venture capital business Henderson Investors, which it acquired during 1996. LDC has concentrated its business activity on small and medium sized deals within the UK. The company agreed 25 million pounds sterling worth of deals, during Jan-Jun 1997, mainly financed from its own balance sheet.

PRICOA Capital Group has resources of over Ecu300 million. It helps private companies raise additional funding, without going public. PRICOA markets its private equity and mezzanine services for buyouts of less than 25 million pounds sterling. PRICOA has expanded its business activity into Europe after establishing itself in the German and UK markets. PRICOA organised mezzanine finance for the buyouts of two German companies, Nordsee and Hofmann-Men, for some Dm80 million. The Prudential Insurance Company of America set up PRICOA, in the UK, during 1985.
