Long-term sickness?
Article Abstract:
Long-Term Capital Management is a hedge fund which has had to be rescued by a group of financial institutions, including the Federal Reserve. The rescue raises questions as to why banks lent so much to LTCM and what other problems could emerge. Banks have been hit by problems in emerging markets, but many banks have built up reserves during the bull market. Lending criteria have been tightened, and US interest rates have been reduced following the rescue.
