Lot sizing with quality improvement and setup time reduction
Article Abstract:
A lot sizing model that takes into account process quality improvement, process quality effect and setup cost reduction is presented. Results demonstrate a positive correlation between lot size and process quality deterioration and that the setup and holding costs decline as process quality deteriorates. Instead of logarithmic or power functions, setup cost reducing policies and process quality improvement are advocated. To find the least value of total cost function, a simple mapping technique is recommended.

Setup cost stability region for the dynamic lot sizing problem with backlogging
Article Abstract:
An optimal model for determining the setup cost stability regions for the dynamic lot sizing problemwith backlogging is developed. Assumptions include instantaneous production perperiod, greater than zero demand in the first period, a fixed setup cost and variable holding and backlogging costs. The setup cost stability region for a solution consists of the set of all setup cost values for which the solution isoptimal. Numerical solutions and examples are included.

Setup cost stability region for the multi-level dynamic lot sizing problem
Article Abstract:
The use of parametric integer programming techniques to solve the multi-level, dynamic lot sizing problem given a predetermined setup cost stability region for an optimal solution is discussed. The approach, which is applied to the analysis of the facilities of a series inventory model, is simpler than other methods because its holding cost function is convex in the number of setups.
