Policske strojirny (PS) (Policka, Czech Republic), engineering firm, saw a preliminary loss of 44 mil Kc in 1999. The firm saw a loss of 41 mil Kc in 1998. PS has to face the loss of contracts, which influenced a decrease in the number of its employees. The firm dismissed 80 employees at the end of 1999. It has 430 employees currently. It manufactures ammunition, explosives, measuring and pumping equipment and pneumatic elements.

Toshulin raises proceeds

Toshulin (Hulin, Czech Republic), engineering company, increased its proceeds by 6.7% to 604 mil Kc in 1999 compared to 1998, according to pre-audit results. Exports, mainly to the US and countries of the European Union, represented 80% of the firm's proceeds in 1999. The company rose its gross profit by 85% to 94.6 mil Kc in 1999 compared to 1998. Toshulin is a prominent domestic vertical lathe manufacturer.

Lounske Strojirny is profitable

Lounske strojirny (LS) (Louny, Czech Republic), engineering company, increased its proceeds by 60 mil Kc to 602 mil Kc in 1999 compared to 1998. According to preliminary estimates, the firm expects a pre-tax profit of 45 mil Kc for 1999, 135% more compared to 1998. The company improved its economic results mainly due to an increase in its exports. LS exported 75% of its production in 1999 compared to 60% in 1998. LS is involved in the repair, production and reconstruction of railway cars and locomotives and the production of welded steel structures.
