Article Abstract:
Signaal Usfa and TNO Physics & Electronic Laboratory have been awarded by the Netherlands armed forces with a contract to develop a new generation proximity fuze called the Multi-role Extended range Digital Electronic Artillery (MEDEA). The MEDEA, which also involves the Royal Netherlands Navy (RNLN), is designated for use in 127mm rounds to be fired by the OTOBreda main gun on RNLN's new LCF-type air defense and command frigates. With functionalities such as impact, delayed impact, proximity to land, sea and air targets, MEDEA is suitable for ordnance with 76-155mm calibers.
