Corus Entertainment has launched 'Talk Radio for Guys: MOJO Radio - The All New AM 640' in an attempt to boost the AM band. MOJO Radio is designed to give Corus a stronger presence in the Toronto, Ontario, market along with its other properties, New RockEdge 102 and Classic Rock Q107. It is targeted toward males aged 25 to 54 years old. Its goal is to give men a place where they can discuss the things that matter to them most, such as helath and fitness; sex and sports, career and investment tips, gear, gadgets and cars.

Search engine sites have become the undisputed leaders in Web advertising. The Web's top four are Yahoo!, Excite, Lycos and Infoseek whose staggering revenues are driven by two factors, namely, the popularity of search engines and the easy way of conducting business with a single large search engine. Yahoo!'s revenues for the first nine months of 1998 was US$88 million while Excite's revenues for the same period was US$74.9 million. Infoseek's revenues was at US$51.9 million while Lycos was at US$40 million.

CHUM Group Radio has launched 'The Team: Canada's Sports Radio Network. The company's president Jim Waters changed the Toronto, Ontario, venerable shrine to rock, 1050 CHUM-AM, to wall-to-wall jock talk. Waters has done the same in seven other markets including Winnipeg, Kitchener, Vancouver, Kingston, Peterborough, Montreal and Halifax. The move has resulted in an instant 10-station national network of wall-to-wall sports from coast to coast.
