Malaysia finds colonialism alluring in clothes, resorts
Article Abstract:
Colonial style fashion and resorts have become popular in Malaysia. Clothing labels such as East India Company are offering garments similar to those worn by former British rulers. Leisure Village, Summerset and other resorts are also offering bungalows with wide windows, columns and open terraces. Malaysia, which is experiencing rapid economic growth, gained independence from British rule during 1957.

Malaysia's new Islamic Visa card answers to a higher authority
Article Abstract:
Arab-Malaysian Bank Bhd. (AM-Bank) has come out with a new Islamic Visa card that cannot be used for irreverent transactions considered as contrary to Islam. Available to both Muslims and non-Muslims, the Al-Taslif Visa card is reportedly the first of its kind in Asia. Cardholders are not charged interest but are required to deposit a $400 minimum as collateral and charged a 12% management fee.

Socially responsible investing (SRI) funds are growing in Asia, and a group of Western SRI fund managers will sponsor the launch of the Association for Sustainable and Responsible Investment in Asia this November. In SRI, investment decisions are linked to social issues such as a company's environmental and labor practices.
