Managing corporate environmental performance: a multinational perspective
Article Abstract:
Environmental policy is one area in which multinational companies struggle to balance corporate strategies and standards with local practices and requirements. Mangers of multinational companies will have to consider issues including increasing international pressures to adopt stricter environmental policies and the costs of adopting higher environmental standards than those required locally. The International Standards Organization 14001 standard offers a useful framework to help multinational companies in their environmental policy decision-making.

MNC - host government interaction: government pressures on MNCs in China
Article Abstract:
International business operations are often induced to act in a specific way by the government of the foreign countries within which they are operating. Some 250,000 foreign companies have started operating in China. Multinational corporations (MNCs) have found the Chinese government have tried to influence them into making their products in China and in using Chinese suppliers. As a result technological developments are passed onto Chinese companies. Some MNCs have been pressurized into using their influence in their own country on behalf of China.

Strategy and organisation: challenges for European MNCs in Asia
Article Abstract:
Asia offers a valuable market for European MNCs, however, many have been slow to establish a presence there because of perceived problems with operating in such a different environment. However, this attitude is changing because the potential for growth is enormous. Companies need to be prepared to invest time, staff and money in the region, and be committed to maintaining this level of regional involvement if ventures are to be successful.
