Glass act: RMJM's Glaxo Wellcome headquarters in Greenford is one of the few examples of a building that has fully glazed facades with sun control equipment contained in a walk-in cavity with a true thermal flue wall system
Article Abstract:
Glaxo's new headquarters at Greenford, West London were designed by RMJM architectural practice. Floor to ceiling glazing was proposed, using clear glass, which meant that solar control was required. Louvres were placed outside the glazing line and a thermal flue provides further control. The internal walkways are made of Western Red Cedar slats, and the solid walls of the building are faced with terracotta tiles.
