Sales of hand-guided lift trucks rose by 8.5% to 21,000 units. The market leader in this segment are MIC (30%), ahead of Lifter Iberica (15%) and BT (11%). The leading suppliers are MIC (market share in 1996: 20%), Linde (15%), BT (12%), Jungheinrich (10%) and Ibercarretillas. Sales of counterweight trucks shrank by 3.4% to some 4,000 units, after an exceptional 41% surge in 1996. The leader in this segment is Nissan with 24% (1997), followed by Linde with 20%, Europman (Toyota, Daewoo) with 12%, Iberlif (Hyster) with 10%, and Finanzauto and Ulma with 5% each. Sales of electric forklifts with driver's seat rose by 25%, sales of gas-fuelled trucks by 15%. After 5.1% growth to around 30,700 units for the whole Spanish industrial truck and goods handling equipment market in 1996 and 12% growth in the first half of 1997, Atemcop expects a similar growth rate for 1998.

Mehr Konkurrenz f r Landmaschinenhersteller
Article Abstract:
In 1997, total sales of agricultural and forest machines, equipment and tools by Polish companies fell slightly to 137,000 t (139,000 t), which corresponds to a value of Zl 989.3mn (Zl 865.0mn). The competition is keen because foreign suppliers are entering the market. In 1997, imports of agricultural, forest and gardening machines increased by 42% in nominal terms to Zl 932.4mn while exports grew by 39.4% to only Zl 210.2mn. Domestic companies are lacking money for a modernisation of production equipment. To secure their position against foreign competition, a group of Polish manufacturers is appealing to the government for a stricter protection of the market. However, from 1999, Poland has to abolish import duties for tractors from the EU and EFTA countries. The largest customer group for agricultural machines is in Poland the medium-sized farms of 10-20 ha.
