Masters in exile
Article Abstract:
Professional female Chinese go player Rui Naiwei is a strong contender for the $400,000 Ing Cup World Professional Go Championship. However, controversy has surrounded the participation of Rui in the tournament that offers the largest price in go. Chinese players boycotted the tournament after organizers allowed the participation of Rui and husband Jiang Zhenjiu, who is also a professional go player. Rui and her husband left China in 1990 after a dispute with the Chinese Go Assn over the couple's participation in the 1989 Tiananmen pro-democracy demonstrations.

Train the foreigner
Article Abstract:
Japan has finally recognized the futility of banning the influx of foreign unskilled workers. There is a pending bill that permits a maximum of 100,000 foreign unskilled workers to work in the country under a two-year training grant. Japan, despite the economic recession, has a very low 2.1% unemployment rate and it is hard pressed filling in jobs that are either considered dirty, dangerous or hard. This gap could easily be filled up by these immigrants.
