Matsushita and Philips to sell cards enabling PCs to get digital-TV signals
Article Abstract:
Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. and Philips Electronics NV are planning to sell circuit cards that would allow the transmission of digital-TV signals to personal computers. The products, which would utilize the same chips installed in DTV receivers and sets, resulted from the collaboration of Matsushita's Panasonic Industrial Co. unit with Compaq Computer Corp. Philips' DTV receiver card, on the other hand, was developed by Philips Semiconductors of the US, and uses fewer chips and costs less compared to the Panasonic product.
