Kodak will sell software unit

Eastman Kodak Co. is planning to sell its Eastman Software unit as part of an effort to eliminate poorly-performing assets. In 1997, the company acquired the unit for $260 million. Kodak acquired Eastman Software from Wang Laboratories Inc. in order to strenghthen its document-imaging software unit. According to analysts, the unit has suffered approximately $12 million in loss per quarter.
