Media networks target Thailand
Article Abstract:
Thailand is the latest market to lure media specialists such as Carat, which is rumored to be launching a joint venture in the country with Japanese agency Chuo Senko as partner. The initiative follows the debut of Zenith's Thai office, the sixth in its Asia Pacific group of operations that includes Hong Kong, China, Australia, Malaysia and Singapore. The new, 17-strong media shop will be led by Andrew Green, who is leaving as director of strategic media resources in Hong Kong. Green believes that Thailand is currently a good value media buy but admits that currency devaluation may affect 1998 results.

Crisis hits Asian pollsters
Article Abstract:
Asian research organizations are losing business from financially-struggling agencies there. Metro managing director Henry Saputra of Indonesia noted that advertisers do not invest as much into media research. This means that research organizations will find their customer base shrinking. Media specialists and multinations will probably keep on patronizing research companies because of the long-term benefits. Research groups can take advantage of existing measurement systems. These organizations can also produce commissioned studies to survive.
