The recent amendments to defence laws in Japan, allowing the country some military capabilities, were necessary in view of rising terrorism and the danger posed by North Korea. The provisions are however perceived by local newspapers as permitting Japan to participate in war; a poignant reminder of World War II.

Article Abstract:
South Korea's no compromising attitude towards its decision to not to with draw the additional 3,000 troops proposed to be sent to the Middle Eastern nation, resulted in the death of Kim Sun Il. However, the decision is laudable for it has adhered to the country's foreign policy on terrorism.
