Gazprom triumphs as ENI, Enel will buy Yukos assets

Italian companies Eni S.p.A. and ENEL S.p.A. plan to purchase assets that previously belonged to OAO NK Yukos, a deal totalling $5.83 bil. However, the two companies made a previous agreement with OAO Gazprom allowing it to buy either a majority stake in or all of the Yukos assets, bolstering Russian management of the nation's gas and oil sector.
