Mobistar will launch IPO on Brussels bourse

Mobistar, a mobile-phone operator based in Belgium, will conduct an initial public offering (IPO) of shares on the Brussels, Belgium's stock exchange to generate between 10.8 billion Belgian francs ($310.2 million) and 12.3 billion Belgian francs ($353.3 million) to fund its growth. The firm said that it will offer 3.5 million new shares and 5.8 million existing shares in the IPO that starts Sep. 23, 1998 to Oct. 1, 1998. Mobistar will offer the shares at a fixed price, which is determined after the book-building on Sep. 22, 1998 and Sep. 23, 1998, closes. Mobistar will start trading on the Brussels bourse by Oct. 6, 1998.

KPN-Orange Group gets Belgian license

KPN Orange Belgium NV, a 50-50 joint venture between Koninklijke PTT Nederland NV and Orange PLC of UK, has been awarded with the license to operate the new GSM 1800-Network, the third mobile phone license awarded by the Belgium government. As part of the transaction, KPN Orange will pay 440 million Dutch guilders or $217.6 million in license premium to the Belgium government and is expected to spend over 1.1 billion guilders to establish a new network. KPN Orange noted its network will be up and running by April 1999, launching products that carry the name "Orange."
