Article Abstract:
The marketing and product distribution decisions of a firm entering a market with an established competitor is based on the reactions of the established competitor in the specific market. The entrant is likely to opt to serve to capacity should collusion involve minimal punishments from the incumbent. However, the entrant is likely to limit capacity should the incumbent respond actively to its entry.

Strategic behaviour of incumbent firms in the UK
Article Abstract:
Research and development seem widely used as a strategy in the study of the incidence of strategic behavior in the UK in the food, electrical engineering and chemicals industries. On the other hand, patenting, pricing and excess capacity is utilized much less so. Vertical instruments such as purchasing policy also play an important role.
