NOT JUST A PAINT JOB
Article Abstract:
Asian Paints has increased its net profit by 22 percent to Rs68 crore in 1997-98 against Rs55 crore in 1996-97. This increase was mainly due to a rise in other income to Rs19 crore in 1997-98 against Rs7.6 crore in 1996-97. Insurance money for a fire in its Mumbai plant in early 1996 accounted for nearly Rs6 crore of its other income. The company has decided to grow in neighbouring markets through acquisitions. Its operations in Oman and Mauritius are expected to start in about 15 months while its joint ventures have already commenced in Nepal, Fiji, Tonga and Solomon Islands. The company has projected that its sales turnover will exceed Rs2500 crore by 2003 AD. (khr) ---------------------------- Net profit 1225.45 1403.84
