New Labour's morning after
Article Abstract:
The ruling Labor party plans to set up a network to provide online arguments and facts to help ministers defend its policies. This network would be useful at a time when the government has been criticized on a number of fronts, such as the performance of the National Health Service, and plans to curtail the right for trial by jury. The government perceives itself to be criticized unduly by the media. One problem is that expectations have been raised by a number of promises such as electoral reform, a new philosophy, and revolutionary changes to the way that public services are provided. Health is a key issue where the government could lose support, and it has yet to develop a strategy to keep pace with demand for medical services.

Sickening
Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom National Health Service (NHS) will have an additional 20 billion pounds sterling from the government over three years, but doctors fear that inadequate pay and increased workloads mean that some will leave their profession. Many people visit family physicians with minor ailments which the physician cannot help with, and employers are also asking staff to visit physicians if they take sick leave. There are proposals for charges for consultations to tackle the problem.
