Non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages in France
Article Abstract:
Beer consumption in France reached 40 litres per capita in 1996, with household beer expenditure declining 3% in 1996 to FFr6.8 billion. Expenditure on liqueurs and spirits dropped around 2% to FFr21.7 billion, with consumption levels expected to maintain decline. France's wine exports grew 9% to FFr24.8 billion in 1996, while domestic expenditure remained similar at FFr58.5 billion in 1996 compared with 1995. Spending on non-alcoholic beverages grew 5% to FFR28.9 billion in 1996. Mineral water production dropped 2% in 1996 to 5.5 billion litres.

Article Abstract:
In 1994, per capita consumption of soft drinks in the Netherlands totalled 77.7 litres. Non-alcoholic drink sales improved during 1994 and the market is forecast to continue recovering slowly. Wine consumption rose to 232 million litres, along with sales of beer and spirits. The markets for non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages are discussed further, along with forecasts for the future.
