North America's other Metro
Article Abstract:
The Philadelphia version of the free tabloid Metro had an orderly launch complete with an advertising campaign and splashy parties. Dave Munch, Metro's publisher and managing director, said the tabloid's pre-planning and logistics were already in place as early as Dec 1999. The Metro, the 12th newspaper owned by Sweden's Modern Times Group, expects to have a daily circulation of 150,000 copies by Labor Day 2000. Munch said their goal is to have a net circulation of 200,000 in Philadelphia, which has a population of 4.5 million people.

Furniture for city streets
Article Abstract:
London, UK-based Adshel is one of the best known and perhaps the most aggressive supplier of a variety of advertising-supported 'street furniture.' These are installations such as bus shelters, information terminals, street kiosks, stand-alone payphones, newsstands, recycling bins and self-cleaning automated public toilets. Cities as different and far apart as Rennes, France, and Sidney, Australia have embraced Adshel's products for the civic good they provide and the municipal revenues they produce.
