Optimal joint pricing and lot sizing with fixed and variable capacity
Article Abstract:
A model is presented for maximizing price and lot size for a capacitated firm facing short to medium term demand that is constant but price-dependent. Results of evaluations show that unit production or setup cost reduction programs lead to reduced total costs and better capacility utilization; that firms operating at full capacity are better off reducing capacity; that increase in effective capacity does not decrease lot size, and; that setup cost reductions does not always justify smaller lot sizes.

Minimising bins in transmission systems
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the problem of minimization of transmission cost and its importance to the design and management of an electronic data interchange (EDI) system or any other production or transportation system having a similar cost structure. A formulation of the problem of minimizing the cost of transmissions was presented. Results indicate that the transmission costs arising from using the method compare favorably with transmission costs arising from optimal methods.
