Optimization of multi-echelon repairable item inventory systems with simultaneous location of repair facilities
Article Abstract:
A model is developed to determine the required spare parts, test equipment and the repair facility location needed for the proper operation of support systems in industrial machinery. This model includes variables such as demand rates at the local stocks, transportation times, repair facility turnaround times, repair manhours and test times. The concept of convexification is used to derive an algorithm for determining a cost-efficient support system configurations.
