Coca-Cola ads designed to restore faith in brand

Coca-Cola Co. composed an apology to customers in Belgium as two of its bottling facilities are to be inspected by the European Union (EU). The two plans are believed to have produced contaminated soft drinks. Coca-Cola is issuing full-page advertisements in 15 Belgian newspapers in order to apologize for the contaminated bottles. The ads are intended to restore consumer confidence in the Coca-Cola brand.

Gucci will vote on adding LVMH nominee to board

Gucci Group NV announced that it will hold a extradordinary meeting of stockholders by March 1999 to vote on the proposed inclusion of a LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA nominee to the company's board. The LVMH candidate would be the board's ninth member. LVMH called for the meeting in an attempt to gain control of Gucci. LVMH has spent a minimum of $1.4 billion to own a 34.4 % share of Gucci.
