Out of Africa, then out of a job?
Article Abstract:
Barings' Anthony McGrath was on holiday in Africa with his absence planned prior to the collapse of the bank. His post as head of corporate finance with Charles Irby has been allocated to someone else. He will return in the role of a senior corporate finance director while Irby continues as head of corporate finance and shares this task with Simon Borrow. Barings has lost clients following the problems at the bank's Singapore operation, but has also gained a client in 1st qtr 1995.

Heley leaves Hill Samuel for the second time
Article Abstract:
Richard Heley has left Hill samuel to join Charterhouse Bank where he has been appointed a director of corporate finance. Heley has experience at a number of merchant banks, including Citibank and Barclays de Zoete Wedd. He spent four years away from Hill Samuel to 1990 when he went back to the bank. Heley aims to improve his linguistic skills in preparation for cross border deals at Charterhouse. Meanwhile, Michael Gatenby is resigning from Charterhouse Bank.

Hill Samuel loses another key player
Article Abstract:
Merchant bank Hill Samuel has seen the resignation of Steven Dotsch, an assistant director with responsibility for European cross-border transactions. He has moved to Singer and Friedlander, where he will advise UK companies making acquisitions abroad and foreign concerns making acquisitions in the UK. His resignation follows that of chairman Richard Heley.
