PP cree que el tren a Valladolid no impide al AVE de Malaga
Article Abstract:
The Madrid-Valladolid AVE (high speed) railway project between Madrid and Valladolid, should not stand in the way of a new AVE railway between Malaga and Cordoba, according to the PP (Partido Popular) representative and vicepresent to the Andalusian Parliament, Manuel Atencia. According to the PP representative, the Valladolid project was part of the PSOE (Partido Socialista) government's infrastructure plans, along with a line to Portugal. What was ironic, said Atencia, was that the project to continue the AVE to Malaga in Andalucia, which was supported by the PP, was not included in the regional government's plans.

El concurso del tunel del tren a Valladolid,el 15 de julio
Article Abstract:
The Spanish ministry of development is reportedly planning to announce a tender invitation around July 15, 1998 for the 30 kilometre railway tunnel project in Guadarrama (Madrid) for the 'velocidad alta' (speed) railway between the cities of Madrid and Valladolid. The ministry's investment limit is said to be Pta 250,000mn and the tunnel will only be carried out if the financial and environmental studies currently in process prove it to be viable. If the tunnel project does not go through, a TAV corridor would have to be taken through Villalba, meaning serious railway renovation would be necessary.

Valladolid sera el nudo central de la red ferroviaria de velocidad alta del Noroeste
Article Abstract:
Although official reports claim plans for the AVE high speed railway to be continued to Valencia have not been discarded by the central government, technical studies done to date would confirm otherwise, as they are opposed to such a project. For now, the government's budget only calls for improvements along the current railway. With new pendolino trains, the travel time would be shorter. A decision to go ahead with an AVE project is said to be based on pressure by the president of the regional government in Valencia, on the central government.
