Paint this town red
Article Abstract:
The market for Chinese oil paintings has increased dramatically, despite the relative obscurity of many of the artists. Wealthy Asian investors have become vital to an art market reeling from a global recession. However, auctioneers and gallery owners are wary of over-inflated pricing and a saturation of the market. Some artists, whose works auctioned for three times their selling price, have since experienced a 50% drop in that inflated value. Such erratic pricing indicates that art investing will be at least as risky as the stock market.

Making polluters pay: Hongkong opens chemical waste-treatment plant
Article Abstract:
Trial shipments to the HK$1.3 billion chemical waste-treatment facility has begun. While the government relishes on the new waste-treatment plant as a symbol of their plan to clean up Hongkong, questions regarding its financial upkeep are being raised. It is recommended that the costs of disposal should be shouldered by polluters themselves. This debate highlights the necessity of policy for determining the application of technology.
