Paribas reported to be exploring merger
Article Abstract:
Paribas, the French investment bank, is said to be following the trend among European banks by exploring the possibility of merger with either Societe Generale or Banque National de Paris, two of the leading French commercial banks. There are no details available on the progress of the alleged talks. Analysts say that a merger of Paraibas with either of the two commercial banks would make sense and create a strong bank without causing massive layoffs.
