New Tibet flights may not start a quick stampede of tourist
Article Abstract:
China Southwest Airlines is operating a nonstop charter route for the CAAC Holidays tour company to Tibet. Tibet's allure has always come from its inaccessability, so it is questionable whether this tour will be successful. Major drawbacks are Tibet's high altitude, the expensive price of HK$6,980, and the need for travelers to obtain a special visit permit which takes between two to three days to complete, and the limited one flight per week.
