Passing on the risks: banks are making increasing use of a new type of derivative to reduce their exposure to the oldest of all financial risks
Article Abstract:
More banks are using credit derivatives to reduce the risks of losing money on the loans and bonds they underwrite. The derivatives improve liquidity for the banks. Their use is becoming more accepted after the derivatives debacles with Gibson Greetings and Procter & Gamble.
