Article Abstract:
A collaboration by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries has produced a book entitled 'Life, Death and Money,' in view of their 150th anniversary. The book, which was edited by Derek Renn, illustrates how actuarial concepts influenced several social and financial developments. The 232-page, 11-chapter book begins by narrating the earliest days of the actuary profession and ends by discussing its future.

Labour's non-party political committee will review planning law with the aim of disposing of anomalies. Planning spokesman Keith Vaz wants to see a quick and efficient planning system which will remove high costs associated with the current system. The review will concentrate mainly on processes and procedures, and topics will include policy guidane, planning gain and the cost of planning.
