Planning resources for renal services throughout UK using simulation
Article Abstract:
The number of patients in the United Kingdom trying to avail treatment for irreversible renal failure will continue to increase for the next 15 years. Utilization of discrete event simulation revealed that the expected rise in the number of patients trying to avail renal treatment will result to a corresponding rise in renal treatment-related expenditures by as much as two to three hundred million pounds during the covered period. The number of patients needing treatment will vary depending on location, age and race.
