Playing i-ball
Article Abstract:
Buy.com is an Internet retailer which fits a model followed by many such companies. They aim to attract an audience using free services and discounts and then make money from the audience through selling advertizing, goods with higher margins, and consumer data. Buy.com sells CDs, videos, books and computer equipment at discount prices and has made losses. The company has 200 employees and makes extensive use of outsourcing. Investors may not be as tolerant of companies that do not make a profit as they once were with Internet stocks.
