Preference voting and project ranking using DEA and cross-evaluation
Article Abstract:
The method of W.D. Cook and M. Kress which employs Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to rank order the candidates in a preferential election is modified. Cook and Kress' procedure allows each candidate to select the most favorable weights to be applied to his/her standings. However, this freedom is not realizable when maximum discrimination between the candidates is the goal. The proposed method retains the main principle but in addition, each candidate's ratings of all the candidates is also utilized. Therefore, the overall ratings are proportional to the components of the principal eigenvector of the cross-evaluation matrix.

Efficiency bounds in data envelopment analysis
Article Abstract:
K.-P. Chang and Y.-Y. Guh's suggestion that the replacement of the non-archimedean infinitesimal in Charnes, Cooper and Rhodes' (CCR) data envelopment analysis model with a data-dependent finite magnitude suffers from an implementation problem. The proposal was meant to set bounds on the CCR efficiency rating of some decision-making units. To achieve this, the CCR model is recast in a mixed-binary linear programming framework.

Multicomponent efficiency measurement and core business identification in multiplant firms: a DEA model
Article Abstract:
The study examines performance modelling from a multi-functional perspective in order to identify for each decision making unit (DMU) the function or component of the business model that should be designated that DMU's core business. A modified version of the data envelopment analysis (DEA) model is used in the core business selection, and the model is then applied to a set of manufacturing plants in the steel industry.
