The rise and rise of North Korea's ICBMs
Article Abstract:
North Korea's No-dong program was developed to achieve three primary design objectives. The program aimed to design a ballistic missile that could deliver a 1,000-1,500-kg warhead to a range of 1,000-1,500 kms, to develop a base system that could be used for longer-range ballistic missiles and with the capability to deliver a first-generation nuclear weapon. The Taep'o-dong programs aimed to develop missiles that could deliver a 1,000-1,500-kg warhead to range of up to 6,000 kms.

UK to select contractor STSA requirement
Article Abstract:
The UK Ministry of Defense will award the contract for its Short-Term Strategic Airlift (STSA) program in early 2000. The STSA requirement, which is based on the need to transport the UK's Joint Rapid Reaction Force, is aimed to ease a shortfall in the country's heavy and outsize airlift capability between 2001 and 2008. The department is evaluating proposals from Boeing, Airbus Industrie and Air Foyle.
