RIL'S TEXTILE UNIT SEEKS TO TRIPLE EXPORTS TO Rs200 CR
Article Abstract:
The textile division of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) at Naroda plans to treble its overseas sales to Rs200 crore by 2000 AD. It now exports textiles worth Rs60 crore to US and UK. Exports account for 11 percent of the total turnover of the division now. The division plans to increase exports by tapping new markets and expanding its product range. The unit has completed an expansion programme and increased its capacity to produce 22 lakh metres of suiting, 20 lakh metres of women's wear and 3.5 lakh metres of furnishing fabric. (khr)

KSIIDC TAKES OVER DUNFORD'S MYSORE UNIT

The Mysore unit of Dunford Fabrics Ltd has been taken over by the Karnataka State Industrial Investment & Development Corporation following the non-payment of dues of Rs2.18 crore. The company's unit at Mysore has not been operating since January 1997. The company also owes about Rs2.5 crore to the State Bank of India. The Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction had recommended the winding up of the company at a hearing held on August 4, 1997. (khr)

EXPORTS OF SYNTHETIC FABRIC COME TO A HALT
Article Abstract:
Export of processed synthetic fabric from India have come to a standstill following the decision of the excise department. The excise department has decided to levy a compounded duty on these exports instead of the ad valorem duty. The department proposes to charge compounded duty on chamber used for processing fabrics. The new duty is applicable from December 16, 1998. Export of processed synthetic fabrics was estimated at Rs1,650 crore in 1997. (ag)(vr)
