Rauma ja Ahlstr m ovat aikeissa yhdist osan tuotannostaan
Article Abstract:
Finnish Rauma and Ahlstr m have negotiated on possibly joining their production of pulp and paper industry equipment and systems. However, according to Rauma MD Heikki Hakala, the negotiations are not ongoing at the moment. The companies have negotiated on merging Rauma's Sunds Defibrator and Ahlstrom Machinery which would create the largest pulp industry equipment producer in the world. The joining plans were published by a Swedish paper Dagens Industri according to which Rauma would be the buyer paying for the deal with its own shares. MD Hakala does not wish to comment the matter in more detail. According to the article, pressures to join operations are great in the field as it has been largely affected by the Asian crisis. The pulp digesting methods of Ahlstrom and Sunds are different: Ahlstrom equipment functions continuously, Sunds' in batches. In recent years the methods have competed fiercely. Sunds Defibrator is one of the world's leading suppliers of fibre technology equipment and processes for pulp, paper and sheet industries. Ahlstrom Machinery is one of the world's leading suppliers of pulp industry equipment and processes.
