Reformist bandwagon
Article Abstract:
An article in China's People's Daily has openly advocated the utilization of capitalist systems in reforming the country's economy. This is remarkable because the newspaper is known to oppose the capitalist reforms advocated by Deng Xiaoping. Specific capitalist systems cited as advantageous are contractural production, rental markets, open bidding and equity mechanisms. This article is seen as part of the continuing struggle between hardliners and reformists in China.
