Repairable inventory theory: models and applications
Article Abstract:
A study evaluates models of repairable inventory systems and their applications, namely: single-echelon, multi-echelon, exact and approximate. The aim is to present the best model that will fit into a firm's repairable inventory problem. Capabilities and limitations of each model are presented relative to assumptions considered like population magnitude, repair capacity sufficiency, and absence of cannibalization and lateral shipments. In the end, the study suggests tandem application of each model with a decision support system for better and effective choice by managers.

Target setting for the departments in an aircraft repairable item system
Article Abstract:
The aircraft repairable item system (ARIS) was developed to provide repair and supply of serviceable jet engines as part of the preventive maintenance procedures in airlines. ARIS' performance is evaluated through the use of service levels. Popular mathematical models such as METRIC and MOD-METRIC allow maintenance personnel to support deductions in service level targets.

Optimal burn-in time to minimize the cost for general repairable products sold under warranty
Article Abstract:
A method of ascertaining appropriate burn-in time for minimizing the cost component in respect thereof in the product manufacturing cost is presented. Burn-in time is used to improve product quality before sale particularly the products likely to have a high failure rate that are sold under warranty.
