Report attacks English Heritage shake-up plans for their 'misguided' effect on London's architecture
Article Abstract:
A report published by the Committee for the Future of London's Architecture criticises proposals for the reorganisation of English Heritage (EH). The report claims that EH chmn, Jocelyn Stevens has based his proposals on inadequate information and that they would seriously dammage conservation of buildings in London, England. Plans to devolve responsibility for Grade II listed buildings to the London Boroughs and the lack of consultation are paticularly condemned. The Committee calls for a complete reassessment of conservation in London.

Model passengers: pedestrian simulation packages developed by Halcrow Fox with LUL and BAA are helping the design of major transport interchanges
Article Abstract:
Designers of transport interchanges and terminals are aware that the comfort of travellers and their need to carry out desired movements as quickly as possible are of supreme importance. To this end, the British Airport Authority and London Underground Ltd. have sponsored the development of a pedestrian simulation package. The model, designed by Halcrow Fox, simulates the movement of people around air terminals, rail terminals and other large areas where queues and blocking can develop.

Heritage lobby mourns quality of transport building
Article Abstract:
Architectural historians are seeking to open the way forward for UK architects to learn from past lessons and apply them to modern day thinking and design. Transport architect is one of the most neglected areas of design, according to architectural historians, who believe many of the centuries early works were not appreciated to their full potential and many aspects could still be used to apply to today's design requirements.
