Rivals in talks to bury the hatchet
Article Abstract:
Talks were held between the major life offices and IFA trade bodies to try and promote the importance of the tied and independent financial adviser. It is hoped that these talks will end the rivalry which has existed between the two. Representatives from IFA Association and top management from Sun Life of Canada, Allied Dunbar, Abbey Life, and J Rothschild Assurance, met on July 17 1998 to discuss plans to create a campaign to promote the industry as a whole. Possible suggestions have so far included a big education or advertising campaign or a sustained lobbying effort. The group will now meet again in September 1998 to build up a final plan of action. Meanwhile, other providers are being encouraged to join in with the debate.
