Russia outlines Gazprom, Rosneft sales
Article Abstract:
Details on the privatizations of RAO Gazprom and NK Rosneft were released on Aug. 3, 1998, by the Russian government. As the government of Russia rushes to increase revenue, the privatizations of Gazprom and Rosneft, which are two of Russia's largest assets, will be effected sometime in 1998. The minimum price for the controlling interest in Rosneft was set by the Russian government at $1.6 billion, while the 5% interest in Gazprom would be valued at around $1.25 billion at the price of the firm's American depository receipts. Rosneft is the last principal state-controlled oil firm of Russia, while Gazprom is the biggest natural-gas firm in the world.
