SAP warns on costs of a simpler product

SAP AG of Germany is to spend 300 to 400 million Euros ($390 million to $520 million) to develop simpler software targeting smaller companies. It is projected the costs will effect operating profits by one to two percent for 2007. The business software maker posted fourth quarter net profit up 29 percent to 799 million Euros from 619 million Euros last year.

SAP trails nimble start-ups as software market matures

SAP AG of Germany has missed its earnings targets for 2006 although global sales of business software are up. Last year software revenues increased 11 percent below projections of 15 percent to 17 percent for the German information synergy.
