SARPlan: a decision support system for Canadian search and rescue operations

Article Abstract:

Search and Rescue Plan (SARPlan), which is a geographic decision support system that is used in the Canadian Forces in the optimal Search and Rescue missions of missing aircraft, is presented. SARPlan's planning process and its workings are described. The comparative results of SARPlan with the current manual Canadian Search Area Definition method are presented.
