Sara Lee net drops as food poisonings still hurt profits

Sara Lee Corp. posted a fall of 5.9% in its earnings for the fourth-quarter of 1998. The company was hurt by a product recall caused by a series of food poisonings in the winter of 1998. Sara Lee posted $286 million (266 million euros) in net income for the quarter ending on July 3, 1999. During the same period in 1998, the company posted $303 million.

Honeywell's net plunged by 49% in third quarter
