Scottish Enterprise: a challenge to local land use planning?
Article Abstract:
Scottish Enterprise provides a range of training and economic development services through a network of privately-led, public-sector funded local enterprise companies (LECs). This service was created by the merger of the Scottish Development Agency and Scotland's Training Agency in 1991. Although local government participation is not automatic in the Scottish Enterprise system, the trend toward cooperation has led to more local government involvement than expected. The Scottish Enterprise initiative and its impact on local land use planning is discussed.
