Sculpture gallery which unites two scales and two cultures
Article Abstract:
The Henry Moore Institute, Leeds, England has been designed in the minimalist style by Jeremy Dixon, Edward Jones, BDP. The building uses the interiors of Georgian houses facing Cookridge Street but the entrance, through the old gable end, is a sheet of black granite. Inside, the gallery is a white space without distracting lines. Offices and study rooms are located on the upper floor and are simple and light. The tension between old and new, interior and exterior is well handled.

The art-lover's house
Article Abstract:
Glasgow, Scotland, regarded as an artistically elite city, is where the Art Lover's House stands. Designed in 1901, by Mackintosh, the house has been constructed at a cost of 4 million pounds sterling. The house is to be used as a conference centre and annexe to the Art School. Mackintosh's design was entered for the art lover's house competition, but failed and Mackintosh left Glasgow in 1914, disillusioned. Mackintosh is seen as a means of regeneration for the Post-Modern age.
